FAQ
I'm collecting quotes.
How much do you charge for web design & development?
My top priority is delivering the highest quality, not the lowest price. However, my pricing is still competitive. Most of my web design projects fall between $3,000 and $7,000.
Extra functionality—like a forum, blog, or eCommerce shopping cart—will cost extra. How much extra? Contact me with your project ideas and I'll give you some reliable figures.
Great. That's in our range. I want a new web design rolled out by Friday. Can you help?
While Friday isn't likely to happen, I do provide a Web Design Rush Job service for a surcharge of 25%. You'll get a top-notch website despite the rush. A website normally takes 1-2 months to complete, but I can rush it to 1-2 weeks.
What else can you tell me about the time and costs associated with a new web design?
Sometimes a new website takes 15 hours to create. Sometimes, 100 hours. The difference in price depends on the features we'll design into your website. If you want a quote, let's meet in person or over the phone to discuss your options first.
What kind of options? Let's say you want a contact form, and eye-pleasing pictures fading in and out of your layout. That's quick work.
But if you want an eCommerce site which sells thousands of products, automatically accepts credit cards, auto-prints UPS shipping labels, and allows customers to chat live with you... not so quick work. Another example of a larger project is a real estate website you can login to, to manage and feature your beautiful listings.
Where your project falls on this spectrum is up to you, and your budget. I'll provide you with the options to choose from. Together, we will create a web design which conveys professionalism, streamlines your business workflow, and is an intelligent monetary investment. Your website will work for you to pay itself off (and then some).
A bit of wisdom
In the design world, you get what you pay for. If a web design deal sounds too good to be true... It is. $500 won't buy you a useful website. A trip to Vegas would be a better investment of that money. Much the same way you wouldn't trust a dentist who did $20 fillings, you should also be wary of absurdly cheap web designers. Why do I need a website?
- With the advents of eCommerce, blogging, and a multitude of tried-and-true general Content Management Systems like Drupal and Joomla, your website really can generate profit for you.
- I'll be blunt with you. It's 2011, the internet is decades old, and any successful business likely has a nice website. If your business doesn't even have a website—or if it has one which is clearly from the mid nineties—the reputation of your business is suffering.
- Your competition is capitalizing every day on the fact that you don't have a website. It's time to bite the bullet and show them up.
